Laura June Patterson Hussong is buried in Antioch Cemetery in Island Grove, Florida. This is a cenotaph with her husband, Col. Alpheus Brant Hussong who is buried here in Arlington National Cemetery.

Middleway, West Virginia — June Hussong, 73, of Middleway, died Tuesday, October 15, 1996 of metastatic breast cancer at her home.

Born near Avon, Indiana, she was the daughter of Stella Hamilton Patterson Whitman of Lochlossa, Florida, and the late Virgil Patterson.

She graduated in 1941 from high school in Danville, Indiana.

She attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Indianapolis.

She moved with her husband to military camps including those in Granada, Mississippi; Fort Benning, Georgia; Scofield Barracks, Oahu; and Arlington, Virginia. The family moved near Middleway in 1972.

She was active in the Girl Scout movement in Atlantic Beach, Florida, and continued this avocation later. She was a swimming instructor, a leader and supervised camping and field trips.

She was a volunteer at the women's shelter in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and was active in the literacy program to provide reading skills for others.

The family operated an ice cream store in the Valley Mall, Hagerstown, for several years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Alpheus B. Hussong, whom she married in June 1942; one daughter, Mary Lee Hussong of Lochlessa; and two sons, A. Brant Hussong of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and John Q. Hussong of Souderton, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Hussong.

Private services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Florida.
