Was Civil War Veteran and Employe of Treasury Since 1866, Funeral Tomorrow.

Capt. Martin V. Hottel, seventy-eight years old, civil war veteran and employe of the Treasury Department since 1866, died at his home, 1735 F street northwest, Sunday, following a brief illness. Funeral services are to be held at the family residence tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment is to be in Arlington national cemetery.
Capt. Hottel was a native of Mount Jackson, Va. In early manhood he moved to Indiana, and at the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in Company K, 59th Indiana Volunteers, serving throughtout the war. He was with Sherman's army on the famous march to the sea. At the close of the war he was made a captain and was in command of his company in the grand review of 1865.
Following his service as a soldier Capt. Hottel was appointed to a position in the office of the auditor for the War Department, where he was employed at the time of his death. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the Loyal Legion.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Julia G. Hottel; a daughter, Mrs. John E. Taylor, and a son, Lieut. J.F. Hottel.
