Cmdr. James Franklin Donnelly, 57, USN Ret. of Cayce, SC, died Wednesday, March 22, 1967, in a Fort Jackson Hospital.
Cmdr. Donnelly was born in Charleston, SC, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Donnelly. He wa a veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star with Cluster, two Purple Hearts, and two Presidential Citations.
He was survived by his widow, Mrs. Louise McAboy Donnelly; two daughters, Mrs. Patrick Tolan of Cayce and Mrs. George Barco of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sons, James F. Donnelly Jr. of Andrews, George L. Donnelly of Folly Beach, and Michael E. Donnelly of Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. F. Y. Hard of Charleston Heights, Mrs. J. L. Judy of North Charleston, Mrs. P. W. Shaffer of Brazil, and Mrs. W. R. Eaton of Pass Christian, Miss.; five brothers, H. L. and B. R. Donnelly, both of Washington, D.C., Harold I. Donnelly of Charleston, H. M. Donnelly of Lane, and Edmund L. Donnelly of Palatka, Fla.
Funeral services were Friday, March 24, 1967, in Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais St. Chapel, Columbia, SC. Burial, with full military honors, was Monday, March 27, 1967, in Arlington National Cemetery.
