After being ill for a long time, John Diefenthaler, aged 77, succumbed at his home in the town of Schleswig, near the north city limits, on Sunday at 11:30 p.m.
The deceased was born in the town of Rhine on July 30, 1865, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Weitzel-Diefenthaler. January 20, 1891 he was married to Louise Schmidt of the town of Schleswig. Following their marriage they resided in Sheboygan for one year, and in 1892 moved to the Schmidt homestead in the town of Schleswig. Mr. Diefentaler disposed of his farm property in 1910 and moved to the present home
Survivors are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Meta Gibson of Highwood, Illinois; two sons, Edwin and Oscar of here; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jacob Jugenheimer of here, and a brother, William of the town of New Holstein. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. E. L. Worthman officiating. Burial was made in the Rockville cemetery.
