Mrs. Sara Marie Nickelson, 88, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 1:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.
She was born February 14, 1921 in Marietta, GA to the late E.O. and Minni Mae Ferrell Popham.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clay Earl Nickelson in 1995; one daughter, Emma Jean Nickelson in 1991; four brothers, Ernest O. Popham, James L. Popham, Earl P. Popham and Billy R. Popham; one great granddaughter, Sarah Luttrell and one sister, Louise Mabry. Mrs. Nickelson was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Madisonville. She is survived by two sons, Ron Nickelson of Madisonville and Lamar (Marty) Nickelson of Madisonville; one sister, Rachel W. Page of Kenesaw, GA; four brothers, Raymond Popham of Newman, GA, Gene Popham of Calhoun, GA, Bobby Popham of Edgewood, FL and Charles Popham of Kenesaw, GA; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, Jan 30, 2010 at Winkenhofer-Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kenesaw, GA with Mr. Elliott Reed Popham officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Plains Church Cemetery in Marietta. Visitation will be from 6-9PM on Friday at the funeral home.
