Funeral services for Pauline "Polly" McWilliams, 87, of Lubbock, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Neil Chapel at Carrillon Village. Interment will follow at Resthaven. A visitation will be held at Resthaven on Thursday, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. McWilliams passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.

Pauline was born on April 2, 1922, in Sparta, Tenn., to William and Laura Akin. She moved to Lubbock in 1941. She was employed by Southwestern Telephone Company and South Plains Glider School until they closed. Pauline transferred to Jacksonville, Fla., where she was employed by the Naval Air Station. She married the love of her life, Raymond McWilliams, in Jacksonville, Fla., on Nov. 7, 1945. After Raymond's return from World War II, they returned to Lubbock in 1946. Polly retired from Texas Tech University in 1984.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and four brothers.

Survivors include her son, Raymond Robert McWilliams, II of Kansas City, Kan.; one granddaughter, Kalyn Austin McWilliams; two sisters, Elizabeth Jolly of Lewisville, Ky. and Willie Akin of Pikeville, Tenn.; nine nieces; eight nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels.
