LAWSON SYKES DIES SUDDENLY TODAY
Lawson Sykes, prominent Courtland citizen, died suddenly in Birmingham at 10:30 Saturday morning. He had been in ill health for some time and had been going to Birmingham for treatment during the past three weeks.
Mr. Sykes was formerly in the cotton business here and was widely known throughout this section.
The body will be returned to Courtland this afternoon and funeral arrangements are to be announced.
Mr. Sykes is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Dave Martin and a grandchild, all of Courtland.
