ENTERED SERVICE MARCH 11, 1943. SERVED WITH 517TH PARACHUTE INFANTRY REGIMENT, COMPANY C, 17TH AIRBORNE DIVISION. OVERSEAS REPLACEMENT FOR THE 45TH INFANTRY DIVISION, 179TH INFANTRY REGIMENT COMPANY F, ITALY. RECEIVED THE COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE APRIL 1, 1944. PARACHUTE BADGE, BRONZE STAR MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AMERICAN THEATRE SERVICE MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL. EXPERT M1-RIFLE, EXPERT .30 CALIBER CARBINE. DIED OF NON BATTLE INJURIES APRIL 13, 1945 TOULON, FRANCE. FRANK LEGALLY CHANGED HIS NAME FROM BEHRINGER TO BARRINGER SHORTLY BEFORE ENTERING THE SERVICE BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT THE SPELLING OF BEHRINGER LOOKED AND OR SOUNDED TOO GERMAN.
