She had ovarian cancer. A graduate of the University of South Florida, she received a master's degree in justice from the American University in Washington, D.C.
She settled in the Washington area in the late 1960s and worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1972 to 1980. She was a charter member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, and a member of the American Association of University Women.
She is survived by three children, Linda Carter of Virginia, Dr. Edward J. Artnak of Texas, and Donna Cohen of Florida; two brothers; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
