Lynn Alson Wood, 84 yrs. old, retired home builder, died peacefully August 31, 2007 at the home of his caregivers, Joseph and Carol Brown. He died with cancer. Lynn was born December 31, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN to Leonard Dobbin Wood and Susan Elizabeth Gregg Wood. Lynn served his country as a Naval Aviator during WWII. He was awarded 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and six air medals for msisions flown in the Pacific. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BS in Business Administration, Lynn worked in sales management for Sunbeam, O.A. Sutton, and Hotpoint. In 1958, he came to Winter Haven and began a 35 years career in home building. He was a past president of the original Polk County Builder's Assoc. and the Winter Haven Building Assoc. Lynn served as scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 121 at the First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, FL between 1958 and 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Sherrod Wood, children, Leonard Geoffrey Wood, Marjorie Jean Wood, Robert Gregg Wood and Sarah Katherine Wood. He was a brother to Jean Houlihand Wood (deceased)and John Gregg Wood of Winter Haven, Douglas Leonard Wood of Minneapolis MN. He has 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Lynn's life will be held Monday, September 10, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Chuch in Lakeland, FL.
