Clara Koch Bryant, 97, died Aug. 20 at Woodhaven in Ellinwood. She was born Nov. 10, 1910, in rural Great Bend, the daughter of William and Henrietta Lanterman Koch. A 1928 graduate of Ellinwood Rural High School, she was a lifelong Barton County resident. A farm wife, she married Harry L. Bryant on April 22, 1931, at Ellinwood. He died Jan. 27, 1998.

Mrs. Bryant was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, LWML, Dartmouth Social Club, and a community leader for the Dartmouth 4-H Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Eloise Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Elinor Hiss and husband Lawrence of Ellinwood; a sister, Edna Manke of Lyons; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie Manke and Mildred Ahrens, and two grandchildren, Michelle Revell and Bryan Hiss.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, with the Rev. Jeff Frakes officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the Ellinwood School and Library Foundation or to the church.
