Calapooya tribe.

From the Brownsville Cemetery book:
Indian, L.B. Died 1892.
This is undoubtedly the grave of Alva Indian, son of Jim and Eliza Indian. Eliza Indian, his mother, like many Indians, had trouble pronouncing the sound of v. His name, therefore, soon degenerated in commun use from Alva to Alba. This pronunciation of Alba may still be heard in conversation with many old citizens who knew him. There can be no explanation of the L.B. on this grave save that some uninformed undertaker mistook the name Alba for the initial letters L.B. Alva Indian died at an early age. His accopunt in the old Cooley & Company Store books is closed in the year 1892 with the pathetic notation, "Settled by death".
