Russian-born sculptor and founder-member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors. Her parents were Latvian Jews, though they lived in Tallinn, Estonia, from about 1913. Dora left Russia after the revolution and first settled in France. She soon married Dr G. H. Garlick, physician to the sultan of Johore in Malaya and they lived in Far East. However the marriage was short and after her divorce she moved to England, where she met Hon. Richard Gilbert Hare (1907–1966), the second son of Richard Granville Hare, the fourth earl of Listowel. Her second marriage gave her an entrée into London society, a position from which she gained many commissions. Her husband later became professor of Russian literature at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at London University. She was a well-known portraitist and her sitters included John Pope-Hennessy, Dame Beryl Grey, Emlyn Williams, Siân Phillips, and Dorothy Tutin. She died in her house.
