Ibbie Fern was a daughter of Thomas and Fannie Shell Nichols. She married Bernice Earl Lawless on December 25, 1922.
To this union came the following children: Mary Frances, Luther Bernice, Lillian Fern, James Arnold and Gloria Ann Lawless.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fern Nichols Lawless, of DeBerry, were held Thursday April 21, 1994 with burial following at Mt. Zion Cemetery. She died Tuesday morning April 19, 1994 at Panola General Hospital in Carthage, Texas.
Born August 7, 1904 in Panola County, Texas, she was the daughter of Thomas Montrey and Fannie Elizabeth Shell Nichols. She had lived most of her life in DeBerry. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice E. Lawless on Nov. 11, 1981 and one daughter, Frances Ditmore who died in 1990.
She is survived by two sons and daughter in laws, Luther and Brenda Lawless and James and Virgie Lawless; two daughters and sons in law, Lillian and Thomas Kelley and Gloria and Linden Creel; one brother, Noble Nichols; two soisters, Lillie Reeves and Mittie Blalack.
