Dr. Anderson R. Byers, the son of Daniel Byers and Margaret Bratcher, was born on October 27 1822 in Grayson County, Kentucky. He was married twice.
His first wife was Elizabeth Park, the daughter of David Park and Rebecca Fitgerald. She was born on May 5, 1823 in Canton Start County, Ohio. They were married on March 6, 1845 in Ohio County, Kentucky. They were the parents of:
Mary Ellen - b. 24 Apr 1846 in Indiana
Jesse Anderson - b. 7 Nov 1855 Ohio County
After the death of Elizabeth Byers, Anderson Rowan Byers married his second wife Sarah E. Felix, the daughter of Charles Felix and Mary Sullinger. They were married on December 23, 1857 in Grayson County. At the time of the 1880 Census of Spring Fork, Grayson County, Kentucky the Dr. A. R. Byers household consisted of: A. R., a Physician, age 55; his wife Sarah E., a house keeper, age 50; a son Jesse A., age 23: a niece, Fannie Wright, age 21; and a nephew Samuel Byers, a laborer, age 30. Working for Dr. Byers as laborers were: Harry Porter, age 17; and Dave Thasher, age 20. All were born in Kentucky with their parents born in Kentucky.
Anderson R. Byers served the Union from Kentucky as a 1st Lieutenant in Company H of the 35th Infantry. Dr. Byers died on December 27, 1914. He was buried as Dr. A. R. Byers with his wife Elizabeth Park Byers in the Spurrier Cemetery near the Ohio County line in Grayson County, Kentucky. Elizabeth Byers preceded him in death on December 14, 1855, just oone month and five days after giving birth to thier son Jesse Anderson Byers.
