S/o Richard Blackwell & Elizabeth Perkins. Married Sophia Mattie Wyss 26 October 1900 in Maries Co, MO at residence of Mary Wyss. Death Certificate: George Thomas Blackwell, died after four (4) hours on September 6, 1954, at St. Francis Hospital on Septemter 6, 1954, at St Francis Hospital, Washington, Mo from Pulmonary Embolism; Contributing causes: Amputation of leg; Diabetes Mellitus and arterial Sclerosis. Burial in Union Cemetery on 9 September 1954.

Post Tribune, Jefferson City, MO; Thursday, September 9, 1954 - Funeral Services for George T. Blackwell

Bland [Special] - Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Christian Church here for George T. Blackwell, 85, who died Monday [6 Sept. 1954] at St. Francis Hospital in Washington. Burial was in the Bland Union Cemetery [9 Sept. 1954].

Mr. Blackwell had resided in this area for 30 yeas. He was born Dec 18, 1871, at Hayden, MO, the son of Richard and Margaret Blackwell. He was married Oct 1, 1900 in Maries County to Miss Sophia Wyss, who survives.

Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Sadie Rector, Mrs. Christine Biles, and Mrs. Mae Gosnell, all of Bland; and Mrs. Allie Martin, St. Louis: one son, Amos Blackwell, Bland; three brothers, Christopher and Walter Blackwell, both of Dixon, and Harvey Blackwell, Washington, MO; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Tucker, Bonne Terre, and Mrs. Emma Evans, Dixon; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
