Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3, from Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel for Carroll Williams, 71, who died Monday morning at the family residence in Prentiss. Dr. French Tripp officiated. Interment followed in the Prentiss Cemetery with Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in charge.
Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Livingston, Shorty Mikell, Hiram Williams, Dr. Jeff Holder, Dr. S. M. Everitt, Dr. M. L. Arrington, Earl Stamps, and Frank Williams.
Active pallbearers were Don Kruger, Billy Parish, Jimmy Bynum, Hiram Williams III, Vic Garraway, Duke Garraway, and Bernie Wilkes.
Mr. Williams was a native and lifelong resident of Prentiss, son of the late Roscoe C. and Bessie Magee Williams. He was a graduate of Prentiss High School and attended Mississippi State University for three years. He was a veteran of US Air Force service during World War II, for 25 years he was employed at the Bank of Prentiss where he served as Teller, Cashier, and Vice President. More recently he was employed with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture for ten years. He was a member of the Prentiss Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nell Gray Williams; two daughters, Cindy Williams of Prentiss; Olivia Farish of Hattiesburg; one grandson, Chris Farish of Hattiesburg; one sister, Mrs. Joyce Clark of Greenville.
