Alton Lee Abramson, 83, of Amarillo died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lee's Summit Community Church at 1440 S.W. Jefferson St. in Lee's Summit, MO. Graveside service will follow. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
"Lee" Abramson was born in Yakima, Wash., on June 11, 1926. He died in the Thomas E. Creek Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Amarillo after a lengthy illness.
Lee and Betty had three children, Gary, David and Chris. Lee worked as a stone mason, firefighter, policeman and later was ordained a minister for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1960. He served as a traveling minister in many states and lived in Nebraska, Iowa, Maine, Canada, Missouri and Oklahoma before retiring in 1982. He completed his bachelor of arts degree from Park College. Post retirement, he managed a 10,000-acre cattle ranch in northern Texas.
The Abramsons subsequently moved back to Spokane, Wash., in 1987 to be with family, and he sold real estate for three years. Later on, Lee and Betty moved to Lone Jack, Mo., Pickens, S.C., and eventually Armarillo. He served in part-time ministry the remainder of his life.
Survivors include by his wife of 63 years, Betty Abramson; his three children, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the Church of Jesus Christ The Lamb of God, in care of Larry Anderson, 121 Winchester Mill Road, Pickens, SC 29671.
The family of Lee Abramson has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand in his honor at services to be held Saturday, 27 Feb 10. A memorial service will be held at Lee's Summit Community Church at 1 :30pm. Burial will be at Swan Lake Cemetery in Grain Valley following the service.
