Mildred J. Gruetter, 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, in Sauvie Island Community Church for Mildred J. Gruetter, who died Aug. 7, 20001 at age 83.

Mrs. Gruetter was born Mildred J. Alexander on Aug. 8, 1917, in Plattsmouth, Neb. She moved to Portland in 1930 and graduated from Grant High School. She was the co-owner and operator of Gruetter's Sanitary Service until retiring in 1993. She was a member of Ainsworth United Church of Christ for more than 50 years. In 1936, she married Hans Gruetter.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Greg, Paul and Mark; daughter, Vallerie Hill; brother, Harold Alexander; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Interment in Rose City Cemetery. Remembrances to Portland Rescue Mission. Arrangements by Ross Hollywood Chapel.
