Mr. Berger was born in Wabash County, the son of Christian and Elizabeth (Walters) Berger.

He married Grace Haskell Jan. 27, 1926, and she died Aug. 23, 1981.

He then married Grace Adams and she survives.

He was owner and operator of a retail business in Olney and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the International Order of Odd Fellows.

Other survivors include five sons, Kenneth, Olney; Loren and Carl, both of Mt. Dora, Fla.; Earl, Noble; and Willis, Tampa, Fla.; three step-sons, J.D. and Everett Adams, both of Noble; Neil Adams, Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Ed Berger, Noble; a sister, Bessie Schwartz, Noble; 13 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, two sisters, five brothers, and a grandchild.

Services for Charles Berger, 79, 320 N. Fair, Olney, who died Wednesday, July 10, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Summers Funeral Home. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
