Ida Bell Richardson, age 85 of the Mill Creek section of Raven, Virginia, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010. Born July 31, 1924 at Swords Creek, Virginia she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Richardson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. John Albert Richardson; one son, Buford Allen Richardson; one daughter, Jesse Juanita "Polly" Richardson Shelton; four sisters, Dora Webb, Mae Plaster, Carlie Mutter and Pearl Cole and one brother, Clarence Richardson.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Swords Creek Block Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Dennis Smith of Raven, VA; five grandchildren, Wayne Shelton and wife Anita of McGaheysville, VA, Suzanne Cordle and husband Jerry of Newport News, VA, Kevin Smith and wife Alice Ann of Jonesborough, TN, Amanda Horton and husband Shaun of Raven, VA and Josh Smith and wife Britennee of Raven, VA; eight great grandchildren, Jesse Patton, Alvin Shelton, Andrew Shelton, Alexis Horton, Aaron Horton, Keely Cordle, Ashton Cordle and Alissa Smith; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Plaster of Claypool Hill, VA and Mrs. Dorothy Whited of Doran, VA; one brother, Robert Richardson of Swords Creek, VA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Richardson of Raven, VA; many friends, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Jim Richardson, Rev. Wayne Shelton, Rev. Carl Robinson and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Richardson Family Cemetery at Horton Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
