He m 2nd Bathsheba Brown daughter of George Brown and Elizabeth Mulford 9 Apr 1729, Eastham. Stephen Smith died in the 1766 smallpox epidemic and is buried in what is commonly known as the Smallpox cemetery just south of Old Comer's Road in Chatham.
