James Darrell Bacon, age 86, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Friday, February 19, 2010, in Maranatha Village.

He was born December 13, 1923, in Polk County, Mo., to James and Dellia (Bundridge) Bacon. He was a member of Jefferson Ave Baptist Church. James retired from the Springfield Public School System after 28 1/2 years.

His parents, James and Dellia Bacon; wife, Naomi Bacon; daughter, Sandra Tannehill; son, Danny Bacon; six sisters, Icle, Wanda, Verbal, Marceline, Maxine and Freda; and two brothers, Garley and Arlie, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Camellia Bacon of Springfield, Mo.; grandson, Gary Lynn and wife Shelly Tannehill Jr. and their children, Madison, Skyler, and Beau of Kansas City; step children, Cheryl Afghanipour and children, A.J., Sara, and Zhaleh and husband Paul Jeter and their son Jack, Kevin Snodgrass and sons, Michael and John; grandson, Cory Snodgrass; two sisters, Delores and husband Ralph Scroggins, and Roberta Parscale; brother-in-law, Harold Wilgus; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bacon; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Rev. Craig Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Slagle Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, February 22, 2010, 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
