Garley W. Bacon, 85, Crane, Mo., died at 10:12 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, Mo. He was born April 11, 1914, in Polk County, Mo., to James Preston and Iva Della Brundege Bacon. He retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass Company as a glass glazer. Mr. Bacon served as a deacon for Wilson Creek Baptist Church for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reathel Hawkins Bacon, Aug. 16, 1986; his parents; five sisters, Icie, Wanda, Marcellene, Maxine and Verbal; and an infant granddaughter, Marlene. He is survived by his wife, Lorene; three children and their spouses, Jerry and Patsy Bacon, Clever, Judy and Rex Lehman, Republic, and Joyce Jackson, Billings; three step-children and their spouses, Junior and Bonnie Stockstill, Nixa, Alvin and Sue Stockstill, Crane, and Jo Ann and Robert Lee, Clever; two brothers, Arlie Bacon, Buffalo, and Jim Bacon, Springfield; three sisters, Freeda Glover, Halfway, Roberta Parscale, Tucson, Ariz., and Delores Scroggins, Slagle, Mo.; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Manley Cemetery, Battlefield.
