Mr. Dove was a native of Ware Shoals, South Carolina, and moved to Tallahassee as a young boy and was raised in Tallahassee. He graduated from Leon High School and attended Florida State University, before leaving to join the United States Coast Guard. He was President of Dove Roofing, a firm that traces it's roots back to 1888. His father was a partner in Temple-Dove Sheet Metal, which in 1934 became Dove Sheet Metal, and finally Dove Roofing. He was Past President and life member of the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Association (FRSA), the recipient of the FRSA Bob Campanella Award, and was also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Roofing Contractors Association. Mr. Dove was the first roofing contractor member of the DPBR Licensing Board. He was also a very active member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church. Other survivors include his daughter, Donna Dove of St. Augustine; two sons, Bobby Dove (Alisa) of Largo and Jody Dove (Gayle) of Tallahassee; five sisters, Polly McLean and Ann Pace, both of Tallahassee, Sue Hall of Lake Talquin, Pam Musgrove of Woodville and Kitty Taylor of California; two brothers, Wayne Dove of Calvary, GA and Dick Dove of Dunnellon; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hattie Dove; and two sisters, Mary John Moody and Caroline Donaldson.
