ALGER - Services for John Salyer, 73, formerly of McGuffey and Mt. Victory, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hanson Funeral Home here, Rev. George Hurt officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery.
Mr. Salyer died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday in Port Lavaca, Texas, following a sudden illness. He was retired from Superior Coach Lima plant.
Born July 8, 1902, in Prestonsburg, Ky., he was the son of Elliott and Mollie Minix Salyer. He married Anna Patton in 1924 and she died in 1973. In 1975 he married Nora Symonds and she survives.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Molly) Wies of McGuffey; three sons, James of Dola, Gila of the U.S. Army in California and Henry of West Virginia; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nora Barker of Portsmouth; three half-sisters, Blanche of Indiana, Lucy of Lima and Mrs. Mariam Dyer of Kenton; two half-brothers, Donald Salyer of Indiana and Arnold Salyer of Florida.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
