William was 1 of 11 children of Charles Gillham & Ann Histed/Hysted. He married Mary Ann Monk (1842-1925) in 1864 in Faversham, Kent and 11 years later emigrated to NZ on the 'Helen Denny', arriving in Napier 20 Sep 1875 .. http://www.yesteryears.co.nz/shipping/passlists/helendenny.html

An old identity of Woodville, Mr William Gillham, passed away on Friday morning at the ripe age of 83 years. The deceased gentleman was born in East Ling, Kent, England and he was married to Mrs Gillham at Faversham, Kent and with her game out to New Zealand over 49 years ago.
