DUFF, JAMES C. - Came to Texas in January, 1834. Mr. Duff was a member of Captain Gibson Kuykendall's Company and was part of the support group detailed to Harrisburg during the Battle of San Jacinto . For this service, he was issued 640 Acres of land. On February 24, 1849, James was living in Austin County when he sold this property. In 1857 he was living in Fayette County, Texas where he later died. James and his wife Melvina were both buried in the Duff Family Cemetery near Praha, Fayette, Texas.
