Deborah Lynn Smeets, born in Flint, MI on December 24, 1955, was taken home to be with her heavenly Father on February 11, 2010 following a car accident on January 5, 2010. Debbie, the daughter of Jim and Sue Smeets, was raised on Lake Fenton with her sisters, Jill (Nyberg), Kim (Loafman) and Vicki (Norris), all of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by her maternal grandfather's wife, Eleanor Trembley and many aunts and uncles. Until she moved to Ann Arbor 34 years ago, she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Fenton. Debbie was an associate member of The Servants of God's Love, and was affiliated with Renewal Ministries, The Word of God, Camp DeSales of Brooklyn, MI, The Daughters of St Francis DeSales, Christian Montessori School of Ann Arbor, Christ the King Catholic Church of Ann Arbor, Morgan Insurance Agency, Arbor Insurance Agency, and Drs. Cowan, Scrase & Dengiz. Debbie loved her trips to Arizona to visit her family including her six nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews. Deb had a special gift with children and happily involved herself in every imaginable activity with all children in her life. She is lovingly remembered for her constant smile, generous heart and sunny disposition and will be sorely missed by her family and countless friends. Generous in death as she was in life, she was a donor to Gift of Life. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King on the evening of February 16, 2010. Contributions can be made in her memory to The Servants of God's Love, 3208 Raven-wood, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 for the care of their children.
