He entered service in August 1942, and was first attached to the Medical Corps. Starting preliminary training in December, 1942, he won his commission and wings at Luke Field, Ariz., and left America for combat duty in April, 1944. Surviving are his parents, two brothers, Clay L. Colburn of Oneonta, Robert L Colburn of Milford, and four sisters, Miss Charlotte, Port Washington; Miss Janice, New York City; Miss Elizabeth and Mrs. Richard Bates. Milford. The family has requested that flowers be omitted.
