Marvin Ray "Red" Ehlers passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife by his side on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Mart Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Littlepage Funeral Home.
Red was born in Otto, Texas, to Herbert and Doris Ehlers. He spent his entire life in Mart. From the day he was born, he was a "country boy." On April 9, 1979, Red and Barbara were united in marriage. Red enjoyed the country and spending time at his farm, watching the cows. He never missed seeing anyone and taking the time to talk to everyone, always lending a helping hand to others. During his time in life, he worked for Wilson Oxygen (Praxaire) for numerous years and Etox before retiring in June, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Ehlers.
His survivors include his wife of 31 years, Barbara Ehlers, of Mart; daughters, Rhonda Wooley and husband, Billy, of Eddy and Stephine Townsend and husband, Tony, of Kimberling City, Mo.; three granddaughters; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; his mother, Doris Cranford, of Mart; sisters, Grace Cook, Shirley Stone, Mary Ann Cranford, all of Mart, and Betty Allen, of North Carolina; his step-sisters, Louise Franks, of Waco and Vickie Bruner, of Gatesville; and many nieces and nephews.
