"E. W. Greenwood"
"Mr. E. W. Greenwood, who has been seriously ill with kidney trouble for more than a month, died Thursday night of last week at his home in this city. The following facts connected with his life have been furnished The Leader for publication:
E. W. Greenwood was born in Nacogdoches county, Texas, in the year 1841, his parents having been among the pioneers in that section of Texas. With his father's family he moved to this section of the state about forty years ago, and when quite a young man enlisted in the Texas ranger service. He also passed through the Confederate army, and at the close was entitled to a captain's commission, though he never sought such honors. Since the war he has lived in this section and followed stock-raising and farming. He was married in the year 1865 to Mrs. Fannie Stewart, who survives him. He has lived in Lampasas for the past seven years, and recognized as an honest, upright, and worthy citizen. For many years he had been a member of the Christian church and died in love and fellowship with the world. Nine children were born of his marriage, seven girls and two boys, five of the girls and the two sons being yet alive. His body was interred Friday afternoon in the city cemetery, and a large concourse of friends and relatives attended the funeral. The Leader joins the many relatives and friends of Mr. Greenwood in sincere sympathy in their sad loss."
