Gordon Dean Hodges

On his 80th birthday, Gordon Dean Hodges was called to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior and to be with his loved ones who preceded him.

Deanie was born February 16, 1930, in Houston, Texas, to Robert and Valeria "Bill" Hodges. His parents returned to West Columbia when he was an infant. He attended the West Columbia schools and was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church.

Deanie was known for his love and devotion regarding his life as a cowboy. When he and his brother Cotton put on their boots, they were true cowboys. Deanie was the happiest when he was working cattle and on his horse trigger and sitting tall in the saddle. He was known for his extraordinary skills and anything he attempted to do. During his lifetime he worked for various cattlemen but retired from Tenneco, in the maintenance area, in 1977.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas.

Services will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., February 19, at Baker Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Jim Gentner of Bethel Presbyterian Church.

Burial will follow in Columbia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandson, Casey Hodges, great nephews, Bryce Friedrich Jr., Brad Sinor, Bryan Alexander, Gregory Hodges and Chip Hodges, nephews, Larry and Jody Hodges.

Honorary pallbearers are Winston Sinor, Tommy Alexander, Gary Maus, Berry Lee Hodges, Joe Rachunek and Greg Hodges.

Deanie is survived by his son, Andy Hodges and wife, Angel, of Brazoria, Texas; brother, Billy Ray Hodges and wife, Nickie, of Santa Fe; sister, Annie May Wallis; sister-in-law, Betty Hodges of West Columbia; grandchildren Amanda and Casey Hodges of Brazoria; nephews and nieces, Berry Lee, Greg and Larry Hodges, Jodi and Tina Hodges, Connie Rachunek, Barbara Alexander, Susan Smith, Penny Clinton and other loving great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are parents, Robert and Valeria "Bill" Hodges; brother, Bobby C. Hodges; brother-in-law, Everett Wallis; nephew-in-law, Bruce Smith; nieces, MyLinda Maus and Patti Hodges.

The family would like to thank the staff at Country Village Care and AMED Hospice for the loving care that was extended to our loved one.
