Mrs. Charles Breckenridge Faris, 66, widow of the late Judge Faris, died at her home in St. Louis at 8 o'clock Saturday night of a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Faris was reared in this city, accompanying her husband first to Jefferson City and then to St. Louis as he was elevated to Supreme and Federal Court positions.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Second Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Faris, nee Anna Lee McClanahan, like her noted husband, spent many years in public life, serving as a Democratic national committeewoman from 1929 until 1936. She was second vice-president of the state chapter of the United Daughter of the Confederacy in 1931, and served as representative of Democratic women on the board of presidents of the League of Women Voters shortly after the League was organized. Mrs. Faris also was very active in church work.
Judge Faris preceded his wife in death on Dec. 18, 1938. They are survived by two sons, James W. and William B. Farris, and two daughters, Mrs. Harold Moore of Brookfield, Mo., and Miss Mary Lee Faris of St. Louis.
Mrs. Faris leaves several more distant relatives in this city, including her nieces and nephews, children of the late John McClanahan.
