The following is from "Jasper County, Illinois Volume I" a biographical and pictorial book published in 1988 and copyrighted to the local historical society. Thomas Jefferson was the eleventh child of Philip and Magdalena (Oldfather) Isley. The Isley family was originally from eastern Tennessee and migrated to Farmersville, Ohio where the Oldfather family lived. Philip and Magdalena then moved to Decatur County, IN where Thomas was born. He first married Elnora J. Farley and they had three children: Samuel M. born 13 Dec 1868, Margaret, born 05 May 1871 and Philip Delbert, born in 1873. Elnora died in 1894 and Thomas later married Margaret Curnutt.
