Fred married Mabel Queen Piatt about 1923 and they were the parents of three known sons, Fred Hubert Carrington Jr. who died at age 7 of septicemia, Bertram Carrington, he died at age 1 and Gayle Carrington. Mabel was killed on September 23, 1933 after being struck by an automobile, she died instantly of a broken neck.
Fred was married a second time to Lucy Easter Ervin, she was the daughter of William Jerry and Emma Elizabeth Johnson Ervin. Fred and Lucy were married on May 2, 1934. They were the parents of daughter Dorothy Q. Carrington and son Eugene Wilkey Carrington.
The 1940 Federal Census lists Fred, Lucy, Gayle and Hartha (Martha) living at Little Sulphur Creek in Lewis County, Kentucky. Fred was listed as farming.
