Bevier.
A terrible accident occurred here Monday afternoon. Tom Allen, a colored boy 16 years old, was riding from his home at No. 3 to town, and when near the base ball grounds, while trying to pass from one car to another, fell between them and had both legs cut off near the body, and three large cuts on his head, from which he died several hours later. Tom was a very intelligent boy, and a general favorite with his white chums and companions. His parents are highly respected in our neighborhood, having resided here many years , and their white friends and neighbors have done all in their power to console the grief-stricken parents. The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon. The remains were taken to Callao for burial. The funeral services were largely attended, consisting mostly of white persons. The pall bearers were six white boys, the boon companions of the deceased. This is another severe lesson to the boys who practice this dangerous habit of jumping on trains. It should be an awful warning to them.
