Lloyd Green, son of I. L. "Edd" and Bertha Calton Green, was born September 10, 1919, near Morgan, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, November 15, 1998, in Cox Walnut Lawn, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, two months, and five days.

On April 7, 1963, he was united in marriage to Wilma F. Williams, and together they shared the last thirty-five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother; a son-in-law, Tommy Vaughn; and a grandson, Timothy Vaughn.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Wilma, of the home; five daughters, Mona Brookover, of Taft, California, Bobbi Lightbody, of Bakersfield, California, Rhonda Mitchell, of Columbia, Missouri, Judith Vaughn, of Conway, Missouri, and Beverly Goodin, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Jerry Jennings, of Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers and wives, Leo "Bud" and Katie Green, of Conway, Missouri, Calton and Fern Green, and Joe and Opal Green, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Carl and Edna Green, of Neosho, Missouri; two sisters, Willie Officer, and Mae Green, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in the Morgan community, and graduated from Morgan High School in the Class of 1937. For the next few years, he helped his mother on the farm, as his father had recently passed away.

In April of 1942, he entered the United States Army Air Force, and faithfully served his country for almost four years during World War II. He was stationed in the South Pacific, and was in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was honorably discharged from the military in November of 1945.

In 1950, he went to work at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in the Civil Service, retiring in 1973. For the next few years, he and Wilma did volunteer mission work, building church houses in many states.

Lloyd had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime member of Morgan Baptist Church. He had also been active in the Gideon Bible ministry for several years.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. In his younger years, his aim in life was to be a major league ball player. He head coached little league when his children were young. His family was very important to him, and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was laid to rest at Mount Rose Memorial Park with full military rites by V.F.W. Post #4107. His escorts were Brad Caudle, Kory Huckaby, Darwin Kogel, Grant Sharp, Marcus Sharp, and Brad Vaughn. Honorary escorts were his brothers, Calton, Carl, Joe, and Leo Green.
