Funeral Mass for Abelardo Aranda Villa, 77, is scheduled for Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Lovington Cemetery. A Rosary is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 6:00 PM at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He passed away February 14, 2010 at Nor Lea Hospital in Lovington, NM. He was born February 2, 1933 in Manuel Benavidez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He married Ezequiel Lujan Villa April 12, 1961 in Mexico.

Abelardo Villa was a very hardworking man who worked for the well being of his nine children and wife. He worked in the oil field for many years and was known by many people throughout his work experience here. He was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He had been a resident of Lovington, New Mexico since 1978, became a citizen and was always proud of what he had achieved. He was a very loving and caring man who helped anyone who crossed his path. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Ezequiel Lujan Villa, Daughters and sons in law Nancy Villa Saenz and Joe Saenz, Linda Villa and Gabino Rojas, Nora Villa Sanchez and Nestor Murillo, Blanca Villa Dominguez and Gilberto Dominguez, Alma Villa and Margarito Quintero, Karina Villa and Homero Valdez; Sons and daughters in law Luis Villa and Norma Villa, Abelardo Villa, Jr. and Cluadia T. Villa, Jesus Villa and Josie Villa; 30 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; Brothers Manuel Chavez of Lovington, NM, Ignacio Villa of Midland, TX; Julian Villa of Midland, TX; Catarino Villa of Andrews, TX; Isidro Aro of Snyder, TX; Sisters Genoveva Chavez Lujan of Mexico, Bertha Chavez of Mexico, Irma Chavez Hernandez of Mexico, Edelmira Chavez Leyva of Lovington, NM, Rosa Chavez Madrid of Mexico, Lilia Chavez Hernandez of Mexico, Reyes Villa Guerrero of Mexico and Enrigueta Villa of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his father Dionicio Villa, mother Rita Aranda Tavarez, son Ofrael Villa, granddaughter Nallely Villa Lucero, grandson Jonathan Lucero and son in law Leopoldo Sanchez.
