Archie L. Simmons, 77, of Alto, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.

Mr. Simmons was born October 22, 1924, in Banks County. He was the son of the late John J. and Sallie Davidson Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was retired from Cain Electric in Gainesville and attended Yonah Congregational Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Hammond Simmons, Perry Simmons, Ray Simmons and Leon Simmons, one sister, Virginia Payne, and two grandchildren, Mark Abernathy and Melissa Mobley.

Funeral services will be held at Yonah Congregational Holiness Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Ruby Bonds Simmons, Alto; daughter, Elaine Sullens, Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Jimmy Turner, Alto, and Karen and Clifford Spry, Cornelia; sisters, Betty Jordan and Connie Jamerson, both of Alto; brother, Dorsey Simmons, Gadsden, Ala.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
