Smouse grew up at Borrego Pass Trading Post serving the community. He graduated from high school in Springville, Utah and attended college at BYU.
Survivors include his sons, Clifford Smouse of Texas, Mark Smouse of Texas; brothers, Lafe Smouse of Lincoln City, Ore., DeForrest Smouse of Centerville, Utah.
Smouse was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Robert Smouse, Frances Fern Smouse.
