Rita was born on April 8, 1920 in Murray County, MN to Joseph and Mary Ruppert Ackerman. She attended District #45 School and Immaculate Heart of Mary High School, graduating in 1938. On September 9, 1943 she and James Malone were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN. Following their marriage they lived on a farm near Currie. James passed away on July 5, 1982. Rita was married to Raymond Hansen on July 21, 1985 in Currie. Rita passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, AZ at the age of 90. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie and Christ The King Church in Mesa. She also was a former 4-H leader, member of the Murray County Historical Society, Garden Club and and was active with the W.C.C.W. at IHM Church. Rita loved to sew, crochet, read and play with her grandkids.
James and Rita were the parents of Catherine Bailey, Eileen Malonebeach, Paul Malone, John Malone, Jim Malone, Patrick Malone, Joe Malone, Neil Malone, and Robert Malone. A son, William, and a daughter, Mary Beth, preceded Rita in death.
Rita's siblings include Clair Ackerman, Henry, Paul and Felix Ackerman. An infant sister, Zeta Ackerman, preceded Rita in death.
Funeral services were held from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Father Jeffrey Dobbs officiating.
