Gladys L. ALLREAD, age 90 of Dayton, lost her long battle with cancer on Friday, February 12, 2010. She was a lifelong resident and historian of Liberty, Ohio, where her singing voice added warmth to the Liberty United Methodist Church. Active in community affairs, Gladys was a former Captain of the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary and secretary of the Liberty Community Club.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Cecil "Pete" Allread, grandson, Ron Gaver; great grandsons Wesley R. Gaver and Joseph B. Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughters Donna Hartman, Peggy Meyer and her husband Thomas; grandchildren and great grandchildren; Rick and Matt Gaver; Shelley, Scott, Jason and Adam Phillips; Rob Gaver; Cheryl, Kevin, Zenus and Zoie Franklin; Christy, Bok and Calista Mitchell; Scott, Emily, Audrey and Sam Mullen; Beth, Scott, Anna and Ben Menker and numerous other family members and friends.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the staffs of The Sanctuary and Hospice of Dayton for their kindness and care of Gladys.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME, NEW LEBANON, 324 W. Main St. with burial to follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 PM.
