Father of Mrs. M. S. Luby Succumbs After Illness Not Thought to Be Serious
MATTOON, June 23--Jamees Wade Baker, who made his home with his son in lasw and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Luby, 3229 Champaign avenue, was found dead in bed by his daughter, at 6:30 o'clock Thursday morning.
The undertaker, E. L. Knox of Villa Grove was called and took the body to his undertaking parlors there and prepared it for burial.
Mr. Baker had been ill about two weeks but his condidtion was not thought to be serious.
Mr. Baker was born in MT. Vernon, Ky., May 16, 1866. He was married to Miss Rose Taylor, in 1892, in Kentucky. To this union five children were born.
Mrs. Baker died in 1906 in Villa Grove.
Mr. Baker was a carpenter and contractor and followed his trade until two years ago when he came to Mattoon to live.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Knights of Pythias lodge in Villa Grove.
Mr. Baker is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Luby of Mattoon, Mrs. Halley galey of Seeleyville, Ind., Mrs. John Algar, of Bluford; two sons, Cecil Baker of Centralie, and William Baker of Mattoon, one brother, Charles Baker of Villa Grove.
The funeral will be conducted in the Methodist Episcopal church in Villa Grove at 1 o'clock Sunday, by the pastor, under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias lodge, of which he was a member. Burial will be made in the Jordan cemetery in Fairlands, by the side of his wife.
Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Ludy and three children and WIlliam Baker all of Mattoon, will go to Villa Grove Sunday morning to attend the funeral. The other daughters and sons will also attend.
