James Harvey Heath was born in what is now Ogden, Weber County, Utah, a son of James Harvey Heath. Different genealogical records show his mother as Hulda Mariah Holden, or Abigail Olmstead. As a death certificate has not been found varification of his mother is lacking, however, it is Hulda Holden that is buried with his father in Bicknell cemetery and also supporting Hulda as his mother is the fact that James named a daughter Martha "Mariah" (Mariah being Hulda's middle name also).
James married Ellen Thornton on June 8, 1882 in St. George, Utah. Among their known children are: Martha Mariah, Winni May, Elmer and James Harvey Heath.
James' death location is shown as "San Rafell River", Emery County, Utah.
