Illness of Two Years Results in Death of Henry Coburn, Pavilion.
Henry Coburn, for the past 84 years a resident of Pavilion township, died at his home at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, after an illness of about two years. Mr. Coburn was born in Ohio, August 23, 1831. When six months of age he went with his parents to Lima, Ind., where after remaining a year they came to Pavilion, being among the first pioneer families to settle in that section of Kalamazoo county.
In 1857, Mr. Coburn married Miss Clarissa Sanderson of Pavilion. To them were born 11 chidlren, of who Henry, Addison and Levi have died. Mr. Coburn is survived by his wife and the following children; Mrs. William Milham, Mrs. Martin Bacon, Mrs. Richard Milham, Mrs. James Pearson and Fred Coburn, all of Kalamazoo; Mrs. Charles Smith of Flint, Mrs. Robert Brockie and Arthur Coburn of Pavilion. Also there are several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Coburn was one of best known men in Kalamazoo county and he was highly respected for his upright character and strict integrity. Funeral will be held from the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Rev. J. B. Peatiling officiating. Burial in Indian Fields cemetery. Kalamazoo Gazette August 14, 1917 page 5
