Services for Dan Coughlin to be Friday
Mills Resident Claimed Tuesday
Funeral services for the late Daniel Coughlin, Mills, will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Gay chapel with the Castle Rock lodge No. 45, A.F. and A.M. [Ancient Free and Accepted Masons] in charge. Burial will be in Highland cemetery with the Rev. E. Lee Neal, pastor of the First Christian church, in charge of services at the grave.
The deceased died at his home in Mills Tuesday morning after a long illness. Born and raised in Hancock, Mich., he came to Wyoming 20 years ago. He was employed at Midwest for 13 years. He was a life member of the Columbia lodge No. 14, A.F. and A.M., in Boulder, Colo.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie E. Coughlin, Mills; three sons, Elmer, Sugar Loaf, Colo., Chester, Mills, and Ed, Denver; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Bartell [sic], Parkerton, and Mrs. R. F. Rodgers, Glenrock. Also 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Daniel Coughlin, father of Elmer (Mickey) Coughlin of Sugar Loaf, and brother of John Coughlin of Altona and Sugar Loaf, died at his home in Mills, Wyo., Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, according to word received by relatives. He had been in failing health for two years.
Funeral services were held in Casper, Wyo., this morning at 10 o'clock. Burial in Casper cemetery.
The deceased was born at Caribou, Feb. 1, 1869. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Coughlin, who later owned the Coughlin ranch at Sugar Loaf. He followed mining during his residence here, and was also a mine blacksmith. Besides living at Sugar Loaf, he and his family resided in Gold Hill, and were living in Boulder when the move to Wyoming was made about the time of the close of the World War.
Mr. Coughlin and the late Jim Pittman at one time held the world's championship in double hard rock drilling, now held by his son, Elmer (Mickey), and grandson, Raymond Coughlin.
Surviving relatives besides the son and brother, are the widow, Jessie Coughlin; two sons, Chester, of Mills, and Edward, of Denver; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Bartell, wife of Ray Bartell, and Mrs. Jean Rogers, wife of Fletcher Rogers, all of Glen Rock [sic], Wyo.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Kate Adams of Roseville, Calif. John Dalton of Boulder and Mrs. Paul Teets of the White Rock district, are nephew and niece of the deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coughlin and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Riley, all of Sugar Loaf, left Wednesday for Mills. John Coughlin, his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Coughlin, and Edward Coughlin, son of the deceased, and his wife, of Denver, left Thursday morning to be with the family until after funeral services.
