A family tree by marthasmith486 at ancestry.com tipped me off to Sallie's remarriage to a Charles Henry Courtney before I found the record above. This tree did not have the first name of Sallie's first husband but gives his parents as John F Bennett born 1839 in Indiana, and mother M E Bennett born 1829 in Georgia. That's the end of the line for the moment.

In the 1910 census you can see that Charles had a family before he married Sallie and the family tree says the first wife's name was Julia Carpenter, mother to 4 children with Charles, 3 of which are represented in this census, (Elizabeth Mary 'Lizzie" Courtney b.1886 is missing). Because Charles married Sallie in 1900, the last two are their children and there are two more children that did not survive to see 1910; James Edward Courtney 1901-1902 and Charles Hugh Courtney 1905-1908. Sallie is widowed once again two years after this census with more young children. What a rough life!
