MRS. TOM ADAMS, EXLINE RESIDENT, DIES OF ILLNESS
Death Shock to Family as Mrs. Adams Was Ill Only Few Minutes Before Time of Death

Exline, Feb. 10 (Special)—Mrs. Tom Adams died suddenly about midnight Saturday at her home here. Her death came as a shock to family and friends as she had apparently been in her usual health; death resulting from a heart attack. She was taken ill about 11:30 and was dead within a few minutes, before help could be summoned.

Mrs. Adams would have been 60 years of age the 23rd of next month. Of the immediate family her husband, Tom Adams, and six daughters, Cecile Adams, who is teaching at Everly, Ia., Mrs. Vesta Shiltz, of Sharon Chapel vicinity, Mrs. Robert Van Maren of Des Moines, Mildred Adams of Des Moines, Eva and Charlotte at home, also two sons, Virgil and Emmett Adams of Sidney, Montana. A son Roy preceded her in death several years ago.

Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Gradwell of Exline and Mrs. Effie Ruckman of Lewistown, Mont., a brother, Oliver Turk of Mount Pleasant, Ia., and one little grand daughter, Jacqualine Adams of Sidney, Montana, also survive.

The deceased was a member of the Exline Methodist church, loving and dutiful mother and wife, a kind neighbor and friend. The entire community sincerely mourns her passing and express sympathy to the bereaved family.

Funeral arrangements are not yet completed, awaiting word from relatives living at a distance.

Florence Mahala Turk, daughter of Thomas J. and Catharine Turk, was born March 23, 1876 and departed this life Feb. 8, 1936, at the age of 59 years, 10 mo. and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Adams on Dec. 6, 1899 and to this union nine children were born; Cecile of Everly, Ia., Mrs. Fern Shiltz, of Centerville, Iowa, Virgil and Emmett of Sidney, Mont., Mrs. Robert Van Maren, of Des Moines, Mildred, of Des Moines and Eva and Charlotte at home. One son, Roy, preceded his mother in death, April 21, 1922. She also leaves one granddaughter Jacqueline Marie Adams, one brother Oliver Turk, of Mount Pleasant, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Gradwell, of Exline, Iowa, and Mrs. Effie Ruckman, of Lewistown, Mont. and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Adams suffered a heart attack Saturday night and passed away within a few minutes. Her death was a shock to all as she was in her usual health and seemed to feel especially well all day Saturday.

She was a member of the Methodist church and lived close to her Christ. Within the past two weeks she had remarked so many times that the Lord was blessing her.

She was a loving wife and mother and spent her entire life in devotion to others and especially to her husband and children. To know her was to love her, and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances. She will be sadly missed from her home and community.

Funeral services were held from the Exline Christian church Thursday afternoon, February 13, 1936 with her pastor, Rev. E. L. McClure officiating.

The music was furnished by Mrs. Charles Poffenburger and LeVoy Parson, who sang "Abide With Me", "Where the Years Are Counted No More" and "Asleep in Jesus". They were accompanied at the piano by Miss Nora Bratschi.

Interment was in the family lot in the Exline cemetery by her son Roy.
