Rebecca Fincher Gary was born in November of 1828 in Butler, Alabama, to Isaac H Gary and his wife, Sarah Little Manning. She married her much older first cousin, Absalom Milton "A.M." Gary, around 1841, in Alabama. They farmed and had nine children: Elizabeth Sarah, C, Lydia, Arthur F, Charles Wesley, Mary Ann, Milton Crassus "Pony", Susan Rebecca, and George L Gary. The Gary family appeared on the 1860 US Census in Parker County, Texas, with seven children. They later moved from Refugio County to Karnes County where A.M. engaged in the horse business. Rebecca was widowed in 1872 when A.M. was murdered. She died, 7 August 1900, aged 71, in Karnes County, Texas, and was buried with her son, Pony, at Runge City Cemetery in Runge, Texas.
